Onalaska-La Crosse boys hockey rolls into playoffs this Friday as a No. 4 seed and 13-2 overall record, and they’ve done it all with their veteran leader on the bench.

Head coach Tim Franzini says his legs were going numb around the Thanksgiving holidays, and specialists found the root to be a herniated disc which required surgery. Soon after, though, a blood clot developed, and it’s meant Franzini can’t lead practices on the ice.
