Eagles Top Hatchets 8-1 for Second Win; Face Mosinee, Antigo this Week in GNC

The Northland Pines boys hockey team picked up its first Great Northern Conference (GNC) victory of the season, beating Tomahawk 8-1 in the Dome last Thursday.

The Eagles also lost to Bay Port 7-2 in a nonconference game last Tuesday night.

"We had a pretty nice night getting all the kids in the Tomahawk game and came away with a mixed bag of results," said Pines coach David Cox. "We proved we are not a team that can just show up and play. We had a good first period, but again struggled to string three solid periods in a row. Without a junior varsity program this season and one goaltender, it was nice to get everyone some playing time and watch some of the younger players compete."
