An unprecedented season planned

As WIAA teams around the State launch their season amid many firsts - how to operate under Covid Safety protocols, adjusting rosters due to quarantined players and altering schedules for closed rinks and teams on pause - the Lakeshore Lightning have announced another first for this season.  An all female coaching staff.

Megan Bailey takes over the Head Coach position for the Lakeshore Lightning in their 8th season.  Megan began playing both ice hockey and roller hockey at a very young age. When she moved to Mequon in 2005, she began playing girls hockey for the Ozaukee Ice Dogs. Shortly after completing her high school hockey career, where she played for the USM Co-Op, she joined the University School of Milwaukee's Girls high school varsity coaching staff. During her time on staff, the team won the 2015 WIAA State Championship. Megan became the Head Coach of the girls U-16 Wisconsin Selects in 2016. She has successfully led her team to win four State Championships, two Central District Championships, and qualified for two National Championships with a Bronze Medal finish in 2016. She is very excited to bring her passion and her devotion to helping others learn the sports she loves to the Lakeshore Lightning program.

Megan Bailey brings to the Lightning an energetic and talented staff of female coaches, including Meagan Sudik, Alex Burns and Zoe Sternberg.

Meagan Sudik comes to the Lightning program with a solid playing and coaching background. Meagan played collegiate hockey for the Division III Utica College in New York.  For the past several years she has been coaching the girls youth program for Washington County and is very excited to be joining the Lakeshore Lightning Girls program,  and to be a part of the growth of girls high school hockey.

Alex Burns is a recent graduate from the University of Kansas.  She grew up playing hockey at Ozaukee for the Ice Dogs and played for the inaugural Lakeshore Lightning team! Alex is excited to be back in Wisconsin, coaching girls hockey and being a part of the Lightning again.

Zoe Sternberg joins the Lakeshore Lightning as a student coach.  Zoe played high school for the Brookfield Glaciers where she was a stand out athlete, earning 2nd all time in points (119),  Eastern Shores All-Conference Honorable Mentions in 2018 & 2019, All-State Honorable Mention, Ms. Hockey & Jinelle Sergei Award Finalist, Academic All-Conference & Academic All-American & Brookfield Central Female Athlete of the Year her senior year.  Zoe is currently a sophomore forward for the MIAC St. Kate's Wildcats. She is majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry with the plans of attending medical school.

The Lakeshore Lightning program is set to take on the season, and opens with games against Arrowhead and Brookfield Glacier on November 28th at the Mullet Ice Center.
