Welsch, Pickart named Division 2 state tourney co-MVPs

Junior pair led Ledgers to state title

Saint Mary's Springs teammates Brady Welsch and Noah Pickart were selected as co-MVPs in the Division 2 state hockey tourney this weekend.

Welsch tied with Pickart in the tournament lead with five points. Welsch led with four goals, while junior classmate Pickart paced the tourney with four assists. Welsch led the tourney with a plus/minus of +4.

Springs beat Rice Lake 7-2 in the semi-finals and downed Northland Pines 5-1 in Saturday's title game.
