Only division 1 was in action on Tuesday with regional semi-finals.

Being the only division with enough teams to play out all the way to regional semi-finals, the boys in Division 1 played 19 games yesterday in the first test of the grand experiment with two division hockey.

#8 SPASH took on #9 Wisconsin Rapids at the top of the section 1 bracket for the right to play #1 Hudson in the regional final on Thursday. Rapids goalie Torger Stachurski did his damnedest to get the win for the Red Raiders stopping 50 shots in the 2-1 loss.

In the next game down #5 Eau Claire Memorial handled #12 East-Merrill Union 10-1, out shooting them 49-6 in the process. Big ups to senior defenseman Jack Piskula of EMU for getting them on the board.

The #4 Onalaska/La Crosse Hilltoppers out shot #13 Avalanche Co-op 59-12 en route to a 7-2 win and the right to host Eau Claire Memorial on Thursday. Senior goalie Jack Coleman had 52 saves in the loss for the Avalanche.

Continuing the theme #6 Eau Claire North beat #11 Ashland 10-0 for the right to move on and play conference rival #3 Chippewa Falls on Thursday. Stats for the game have not yet been entered.

And finishing up the section 1 bracket, #7 DC Everest beat #10 Northwest Icemen 6-2 to move on and play #2 Wausau West on Thursday. Stats for the game have not yet been entered.

#8 Sheboygan beat #9 West Bend 8-1 on the top of the section 2 bracket, and will move on to play #1 Notre Dame Academy on Thursday. Junior forward Maxx Davenport had the only goal of the game for West Bend, making the game a 1-1 tie early in the first.

#6 Ashwaubenon shut out the #11 Fox Cities Stars 6-0 and will move on to play #3 Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha, last year's state runner up.

And rounding out section 2 #7 Beaver Dam beat #10 Appleton United in a 6-5 barn burner, and will play #2 Fond du Lac in the next round. Junior forward Cam Dahl lead the way with a goal and two assists for Appleton in the loss.

#9 Madison Memorial pulled the only upset of the night, beating #8 Baraboo-Portage 3-1. Unfortunately, stats for the game have not yet been entered. Memorial will play #1 Verona on Friday.

#5 Madison West topped #12 DeForest 7-0, and will move on to play #4 Sauk Prairie on Thursdsay. Stats for the game have not been entered.

#4 Sauk Prairie downed #13 Madison LaFollete-East 10-2. Freshman Tobias Rothman and sophomore Owen Bieri scored for LaFollete-East in the loss.

#6 Middleton took down #11 Tomah/Sparta 7-2 and will face off with #5 Sun Prairie on Thursday in a battle of the Cardinals. Stats for the game have not been entered.

In a scare, and nearly the second upset in section 3, #7 Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells scratched by #10 Monroe with a 1-0 victory. RWD will play #2 Madison Edgewood on Thursday. The game has not been scored.

#8 Brookfield squeaked by #9 Janesville at the top of the section 4 bracket and will play #1 Arrowhead on Friday. Junior forward Cayden Erickson led the way for the Bluebirds in the loss with two goals and an assist.

#5 Homestead shut out #12 Beloit Memorial 4-0 and will move on to play #4 Marquette on Friday. Junior goalie Aidan Wright had 33 saves in the loss for the Purple Knights.

#4 Marquette held #13 Kenosha to just two shots on goal in their 20-0 victory. To their credit, the Thunder kept their composure and only got whistled for one penalty all night. 11 different players scored goals for Marquette.

#6 Whitefish Bay-Nicolet-Shorewood downed #11 Milton 5-1 for the right to play #3 KMMO on Friday. Freshman Leo Studier talled the only goal for Milton in the loss.

And finally, #7 Waukesha beat #10 New Berlin 12-2 in the bottom game of the bracket. Junior Brady Dardis had both goals for New Berlin in the loss. Waukesha will face #2 USM on Friday.
