Metro Lynx forward Hannah Kasdorf had her first varsity hat trick to help the Lynx past the Beavers.
But the real story is about Beaver Dam's young players competing hard all the way to the end. The Golden Beavers were hit hard by the flu this week and both of their goalies were out due to illness and injury. With all his goalies out, Coach Uttech asked for a volunteer and in steps Karlee Albert.
Counting this game, it was the fourth time she had ever worn goalie pads and was facing off against the Metro Lynx. Karlee was bombarded in the first period facing 38 shots, but never backed down making 28 saves.
The second period saw much of the same as the first with the Lynx controlling the play. Albert would battle through the period making another 12 saves and Dayna Jones would go coast to coast scoring a goal to give a lift to the Golden Beavers.
Not much changed in the third and Karlee Albert would make another 10 saves. It takes a strong person to volunteer to play goalie for the first time EVER at the high school level. Albert would face 70 shots in her first game as a goalie and stop 50.
There may be a lot of candidates up for player of the week because of statistics, but the player most deserving is one who made the greatest sacrifice for her team. No one will match Karlee Albert this week. You have our utmost respect and our official nomination for player of the week.
