Hudson, Chippewa Falls claim Minnesota tourney titles

HERB BROOKS HOLIDAY CLASSIC--GOLD DIVISION

Champion: Hudson

The Raider boys' hockey team took home its third holiday tournament title in three years by defeating Holy Angels, 4-2, in the Gold Division championship game at the Herb Brooks Holiday Classic Saturday night, Dec. 28.

University School won the 7th place contest.

ROCHESTER KIWANIS TOURNAMENT-BLUE DIVISION

Champion: Chippewa Falls

The Cards grabbed the varsity Blue Division title for the second straight year. ChiHi beat Albert Lea 8-0; Lourdes 8-1; and Fargo South-Shanley 1-0 to go undefeated. 

 


SHOWDOWN IN TITLETOWN

Champion: Verona

The Wildcats edged host Notre Dame 3-1 to claim their first Showdown championship.

Wausau West slipped past Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha 1-0 in the 3rd place game.

Other teams: Eau Claire Memorial, Madison Edgewood, SPASH, Superior.

JOE RAYMOND MEMORIAL

Champion: Fond du Lac Springs

The Ledgers beat intracity rival Fond du Lac 5-3 to win the JRM for the first time.

Other teams: Janesville, KMMO, Northland Pines, Waukesha.

CULVERS CUP

Champion: Onalaska/LaCrosse

The Hilltoppers defeated Madison Memorial 5-0 in the finals held at Madison Ice Arena. Ashland knocked off West Salem 5-1 for third place.

Other teams: Baldwin-Woodville, Madison West, Monona Grove, Oshkosh.

MONK'S CHEESEBURGER CLASSIC

Champion: McFarland

The Spartans beat Wisconsin Rapids 7-2 for the Monk's Classic title and the platter of Monk's cheeseburgers on the ice. DeForest took 3rd place with a 4-2 victory over Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells.

Other teams: Aquinas, Greendale, LaFollette/East, Tomah/Sparta.


ROCHESTER KIWANIS TOURNAMENT-GOLD DIVISION

Champion: Rochester Century

Three Wisconsin teams participated: Hayward took the consolation title with a 3-2 win over Rochester John Marshall; New Richmond defeated Fox Cities 8-2 for seventh place.

NORTH SHORE TOURNAMENT

Champion: Mora (MN)

Rice Lake was the lone Wisconsin team and managed a fourth place finish, dropping a 3-2 decision to host North Shore in the third place game. Games were played in Two Harbors and Silver Bay.


HERB BROOKS HOLIDAY CLASSIC-SILVER DIVISION

Champion: Gentry Academy

Eau Claire North won two of three games and earned the consolation title with a 3-2 win over Bloomington Kennedy.

HERB BROOKS HOLIDAY CLASSIC-BRONZE DIVISION

Champion: Pine City (MN)

Brookfield lost its first two games but earned a 7th place finish with a 6-1 decision over Spring Lake Park.


ANTIGO HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

Champion: DC Everest

The Evergreens beat host Antigo 4-0 and then Bay Port 3-2 in the title game.

Middleton defeated the Red Robins 2-0 for third place.
