Lynx come back twice for win

The Metro Lynx came from behind twice to win in earning a 5-2 victory over the Hudson Raiders Friday night in Hudson.

The Lynx and Raiders traded scoring chances in the first. Lynx goaltender Camryn McKersie and Raiders goalie Amelia Halunen were trading saves.

Hudson would score first on a breakaway when Leah Parker took a great pass from Nikki Olund and went in all alone giving Hudson a 1-0 lead.

McKersie would finish the first period with seven saves and Halunen stopped nine pucks.

Just 13 seconds into the second period, the Lynx responded. Sydney Raaths would win the opening face off. Rachel Mirwald picked up the puck and raced into the offensive zone. She did a quick turn and found Ally Jacobsen open at the blue line. Ally fired a quick shot which was deflected in front by Mia Goetzke and found its way in.

Hudson would pick up another goal when they were on a man advantage.

After the Lynx picked up two penalties, the Raiders worked the puck around and it was Parker again firing a shot that found the back of the net giving them a 2-1 lead.

The Lynx continued to pressure the Raiders and had several quality opportunities to score but couldn't capitalize and the second period ended with Hudson leading 2-1.

In the third, the Lynx pressure was finally rewarded three minutes in when defenseman Grace Bonnell ripped a shot into the net after a pass from Maddy Ahlborn.

Six minutes later the Lynx would get another goal. Again it was Goetzke getting a feed from Mirwald to put the Lynx up 3-2.

Less than two minutes later, Raaths would take a shot off a pass from Mirwald to put the Lynx up 4-2.

The Raiders would pull their goalie in an attempt to cut the lead but Lynx defenseman Lauren Johnson would corral a loose puck just inside the blue line and fire one into the empty net for a final score of 5-2.

McKersie would finish with 15 saves for the Lynx while the Raiders' Halunen turned aside 31 shots.
