Two Empty Netters Seal Win

Northland Pines traveled to Black River Falls for the Wisconsin Prep Hockey game of the week. The two teams were evenly matched and played a tight contest throughout game.

The two teams combined for 16 shots in the first period with Josie Mathison stopping 7 shots compared to 9 saves for Ashlynn Boxrucker. The second period was a continuation of the first period. The first goal of the game came with 1:28 remaining in the second period. The Eagles were applying pressure in the offensive zone. There was a scramble to the right of Mathison and the puck slid into the goal. Grace Wittkopf was credited with the goal, while Madison Stebbeds and Allison Kieffer collected assists.

The third period did not see any scoring until late. The first goal of the period was at 15:55 as Halle Kerner scored a power play empty net goal. Black River Falls continued to play with an empty net and try to apply offensive pressure. Cassidy Sternhagen took control of a loose puck in the defensive zone for the Eagles and passed the puck forward to Grace Wittkopf. Wittkopf took the puck on a breakaway in front of the Tigers' defenders and put the puck in for the final goal. The Eagles won 3-0.
