KMMO Hockey secured a 5-2 win over De Pere  in the championship game of the Barry M. Fieber Hockey Tournament at Naga-Waukee Ice Arena on Saturday, November 30th.

“The first period was hard fought.  Both teams played fast and physical,” said Bud Simon, KMMO’s head coach. “ We did not play our best hockey in period 1.  I was pleased with our play in the final two periods.  We had several kids contribute.   I am excited to win a Barry M. Fieber championship.  It was a great team win; now we need to have a good week of practice and get more consistent.”

The first period was a fast pace, hard hitting game by both teams.  De Pere struck first on a Power Play goal by Daniel Wagner.  Zach Romsos answered with an unassisted, power play goal of his own.  De Pere responded quickly with a goal by Grady Coppo giving them a 2-1 lead to end period 1.

The second and third periods were dominated by KMMO.  In period 2, Hunter Santos scored two goals and KMMO took a 3-2 lead into the the third period.  Goals by Brady Driscoll and Adam Manske, in period 3, added to the KMMO lead.  The game ended with a 5-2 victory by KMMO.

Both teams had dominating wins Friday night to secure a spot in the championship game.  KMMO downed Baraboo 8-1 and De Pere won 8-2 over Cedarburg.
