TW Girls blanked by MN 18U in 3rd place game

MN goalies star in 38 save shutout

MN 18U goalies starred Sunday afternoon in the third place game, combining for 38 saves in a 2-0 win over Team Wisconsin in the CCM NIT held at the Fogerty Ice House in Blaine.

In a rematch of Friday's game, which MN won 7-0, the netminders proved to be invincible as TW was unable to get a puck past Veronica Morse (17 saves) and Jocelyn Veary (21 saves) in the two-goal game.

MN scored six minutes in on a penalty shot by Jenna Ruiz to make it 1-0.

The period ended with Morse making 17 stops, while TW goalie Emma Quimby also had 17 saves.

Taylor Nelson made it 2-0 with her goal at the 9:55 mark of the second, with an assist to Sophia Hoppe.

TW had three power play chances late in the game, but were unable to solve MN's PK unit and goalie Veary in the last eight minutes of play.

Veary stopped 21 shots in the 'half,' while Quimby made 13 saves to finish the game with 30 saves.
