hockey on my mind at all levels all the time

With spring supposedly here a lot of the hockey season has passed. Since I have found myself with some time to digest a few things on the season that has passed that I wanna share.

First off what a season by Hudson's youth hockey program. Hudson at the Bantam level won all 3 WAHA Championships. While not winning any at the Peewee level they cleaned up at the Squirt level with 4 titles. While Hudson didn't three peat at State on the boys side don't be surprised to see them there again soon. By what it looks like the cupboard of talent is far from empty - for awhile.

On the High School level what a season by USM, capping off the season with their third State Championship. Their style of play was fun to watch and with talent in all 3 facets of the game it wasn't even close after their Quarterfinal close call with Onalaska-Lacrosse. Jason Woods and his staff have a tough act to follow next year.

On the girls side Fox Cities Maddie Jablonski is the most exciting player. She scored the game winner in overtime in the State Championship game. And to see the play again was amazing.

And she has a Senior season to go...….

I gotta admit I am a little excited to see in Janesville Robbie Newton play. After his season ended with TW he came to Janesville along with Parker Lindauer to get a taste of hockey at the next level. Lindauer who has a college commitment in hand and Newton who is uncommitted could help Janesville get back to their winning ways. Newton who is highly skilled and smart has a future at the college level. Jets GM Joe Dibble has a track record of getting them there.

Same for Jordan Halverson from Hudson. After a summer of hard work he stands a chance to be an outstanding prospect for the college level. He was a regular in the lineup and has a great upside in my opinion.

So next season Cole Caufield and a quality recruiting class come to UW. The window with the NHL draft picks and soon to be picks is small. Go and watch them while they are there. Chances are they wont be there long.

With the second round of the NHL playoffs getting started this postseason has already surpassed last years total of overtime games. And with all four Divisional winners out in the first round there is eight teams who have a legitimate shot at the Stanley Cup.

This is gonna get good real fast. This could be a fantastic finish.
