Day 4, America's Showcase: Bracket play

Team WI boys team kept rolling along with their fourth win, an 8-1 domination over Team Indiana Sunday morning in America's Showcase quarterfinal round.

Kaden Brunson got TW on the board just over five minutes into the first and that's how the stanza would end. TW held a huge 24-3 shot margin in the period.

Alexander Duffus scored for Indiana 2:12 into the second to tie the game, but that would be the last hurrah for TI.

Hayden Bradbury scored just 11 seconds later to give TW a 2-1 lead.

TW would score three more times in the period, with goals going to Joey Koller (power play), Bradbury, and Peyton Hanson. Shots were 19-4 in the period as Team WI went to the second intermission with a 5-1 lead.

Cole Beilke, Koller, and Wesley Knutson scored in a span of less than three minutes in the middle of the final period to account for the 8-1 final.

Shots were 18-1 in the period, with TW holding a huge 61-8 shot margin in the game. Jason Cooke stopped seven shots in the somewhat leisurely game played at his end of the ice.

Beilke, Hanson, Bradbury, and Garrett Wilderman all had two assists for TW. Connor Abric, Tucker Wittkopf, Noah Blanck, and Mason Ihrke all had one assist each.

TW will play in the semi-final round, at either 6:30pm or 8:30pm, depending on their overall seed.

Abbie DeLong scored a pair of goals and goalie Jaden Mirek notched her fourth shutout, stopping all 10 shots in a 4-0 win over Colorado Sunday morning that sends Team WI to the championship game of the America's Showcase in hopes of defending their title.

DeLong got TW on the board midway through the first period, with an assist to sister Amber. The period ended with the 1-0 score, as TW held a 14-3 shot edge.

The second period saw Sister Act, part 2 as Haley Knauf scored nine minutes into the period with help from sibling Alyssa to bump the lead to 2-0. Shots were 15-4, TW. 

The first 16 minutes of the final period was scoreless before TW scored a pair of goals in the last 31 seconds.

Taylar Meier scored on the power play with 31 seconds left. Then, Abbie DeLong scored the final tally with 14 seconds left, with assists to Hannah Kolpien and Zoe Lohrei. The scoresheet says it was an empty-net goal.

TW once again owned the shot department, 16-3 in the period, and 45-10 in the game.

Team WI will take on MN White at 5:00pm tonight for the America's Showcase championship.
