It took a while for the Team WI girls to get started, but once they did, they dominated Team Missouri in the opening game of pool play at America's Showcase, taking a 6-0 decision Thursday morning.
The game was scoreless until late in the first, but then TW flashed its prowess on special teams, scoring twice in a span of just over two minutes.

Lauren Carmody made it 1-0 with just under five minutes left, tallying a short-hander, and then moments later Hannah Kolpien scored on the power play to double the advantage to 2-0. Amber DeLong got an assist on the man-advantage goal.
The period ended with TW having a huge 17-2 shot edge.
The second period only saw one goal, and that was by TW. Midway through the period, Anika Einbeck scored on an assist from Kolpien to make it 3-0.
Shots were 14-1 in the period, TW.
Team WI stepped up the pace in the third, scoring three goals in an eight minute span.
Five minutes in, Cameron Carmody scored with some help from sister Lauren to bump the lead to 4-0.
Amber DeLong changed the scoreboard to 5-0 with just under six minutes left. Alyssa Knauf earned a helper on the play.
Then Maddux Federici scored all by herself with 3:19 left on the clock to close out the scoring.
Team WI held a 12-2 shot advantage in the last stanza. Total shots were 43-5. Jaden Mirek stopped all five for TW, while Olivia Magneson (9) and Kate Moffat (28) combined for 37 for Team Missouri.

Garrett Wilderman and Wesley Knutson each scored twice, and Cole Beilke and Derek Pawlak each tallied three points Thursday morning as the Team WI boys shut out Tampa Bay 8-0 in the America's Showcase tournament opening day of pool play.
TW scored four goals in each of the first two periods, which was more than enough in this contest.
The first part of the opening stanza was scoreless, but then the Badger Boyz turned up the volume, scoring four times in a span of just over five minutes.
Wilderman, Isaac Lindstrom, Knutson, and Hayden Bradbury each popped in goals to give TW a 4-0 lead in the first. Shots were 15-6, TW, in the period.
The second period saw the goals spread out from beginning to end, but again, the number of goals was four.
Mason Ihrke scored 26 seconds in; Beilke scored with 42 seconds remaining, and Knutson and Wilderman scored in between to account for the final of 8-0.
Shots were 12-2 in the period.
The final period, with no scoring, had shots at 11-3, TW.
For Team WI, Pawlak had three assists, Beilke had two, and Tommy Duren, Kaden Brunson, and Ihrke had one each.
Shots were 38-11 in the game. Joey Greilich made 11 stops for the shutout win, while Tyler Moschella (19) and Troy Burkhart (10) combined for 29 for Tampa Bay.
