Wisconsin Prep Hockey

Bill grew up and learned to love hockey in Superior, spending his winters at the outdoor rink in Billings Park with the likes of Jim Olaf, Dennis McDonald, and Keith Gilbertson.

Bill believes that high school hockey in Wisconsin should reflect more of the pattern of Minnesota, where the best players represent their schools, rather than the Michigan model, where the best players play on AAA teams.

This is reflected in the practice of Wisconsin Prep Hockey covering and promoting the WIAA high school teams. Information about AAA traveling teams is passed along when it is made available, but is not the focus of this site.

Bill has strong opinions about hockey and youth sports in general, and is not afraid to share them. He is also a part-time referee. So he will be using the Penalty Box as a forum to chastise people and ideas that he finds offensive. Feel free to send in your nominations to bergler@wisconsinprephockey.net
