Seven Sun Prairie Players Score Goals

Sun Prairie hosted the Middleton Cardinals in the second round of the WIAA playoffs and used a fast start to obtain their victory.

Travis Kernen scored at 2:13 with Kaden Brunson and Nick Johnson assisting to put Sun Prairie on top 1-0. Kernen and Benett Halbleib assisted on a power play goal by Drake Hamele at 3:49 to increase the lead to 2. Sn Prairie fans saw the lead bumped to 3 at 10:12 of the first, when Halbleib scored with an assist from Kaden Brunson. Forty-three seconds later Kernen collected his second goal with CJ Harkins being credited with the assist. Middleton called a timeout after the fourth goal to recover from the early assault. Sun Prairie scored their fifth goal of the period at 11:34. This time it was Eric Blumer and Drake Hamele assisting on a goal by Chris Rowles. Middleton broke into the scoring column with a power play goal by Bo Bergenthal assisted by Jake Feldt at 14:25 of the period. Middleton's Cole Garver had 17 saves in the period, while Owen Leatherberry had 3 saves for Sun Prairie. Sun Prairie led 5-1 at the end of one period.

The second period found Eric Blumer scoring with an assist from Halbleib at 1:39 to give Sun Prairie a 6-1 advantage. Middleton scored their second goal of the evening, while on the power play again. Andrew Chafe score with an assist from Anton Tung at 13:42 of the second. Chafe pulled Middleton within 3 with their third power play goal with 1:28 left on the clock with Nick Lindberg assisting. Middleton outshot Sun Prairie 14 to 5 in the period.

Sun Prairie scored their second power play goal at 14:08 of the third period. Kaden Brunson scored with an assist from Halbleib. The Cardinals of Sun Prairie finished the scoring with an empty net goal at the 15:23 mark. Halbleib and Brunson assisted on CJ Harkins goal.

Cole Garver finished the game with 24 saves for Middleton. Owen Leatherberry stopped 26 shots for Sun Prairie
