Despite loss to Cap City, girls show young skaters a good time

FROM COACH MARK THORN:

In an attempt to keep more girls involved with hockey, we been working in conjunction with Onalaska High School and the Omni Center to allow the Onalaska Hilltopper Girl’s Hockey Team to hold a Skate with the Lady Hilltoppers on Friday, January 19th after their sectional game against the Cap City Cougars.

To encourage more young girls to attend the 7pm game against the Cap City Cougars on Friday, January 19th at the Omni Center, Onalaska High School has agreed to allow any young girl wearing a hockey jersey, free entry into the game and then to stay afterwards and skate with the Lady Hilltopper High School hockey team.

After the game, Thorn said, "I'm so very proud of the team for participating in last night's Skate with the Lady Hilltoppers.

"I know it was not easy after a tough defeat and yes, some of them may not have wanted to stay and do it, but if you look closely at these pictures and see the expressions on these young kid's faces, it definitely made an impact on them. And for that I am thankful."

Approximately 40 kids participated.
