Heitsman, Henschler and classmates triumph

The Rock County Fury used timely special teams goals and strong play from the upperclassman to blank the Arrowhead Warhawks 4-0 Tuesday night in Janesville.

Senior defender Dani Heitsman had two goals, while Maggy Henschler and Kaitlyn Beyer each had single tallies to lead the Fury, who now have won 10 of their last 11 games.

Rock County had the upper hand early in the first period but didn't score until 3:23 left in the period. Maggy Henschler scored the first of the night, with help from Ally Burke. While on the penalty kill Burke won a battle along the boards and fed Henschler who scored to give the Fury a 1-0 lead thru one period.

The Fury extended their lead to 2-0 when Kaitlyn Beyer scored off a turnover in the neutral zone. Sam Wells was able to pick the puck up and hit Beyer at the blue line and she put the puck past Arrowhead goalie Emma Nettesheim.

Just over a minute later it was Heitsman's turn to score her first of the night. Once again Ally Burke won another board battle and found Heitsman at the right circle, and she went short side middle for a power play goal and a 3-0 lead after two periods.

The third period saw Heitsman finish off the scoring early on the penalty kill. Henschler picked up the puck and was able to get it to Heitsman, who then beat two defenders on the play for the final 4-0 score. The Fury outshot Arrowhead 15-3 in the final period

McKaylie Buescher, when called on, pushed away 9 shots, including some that were high quality to earn the shutout. Arrowhead goalie Emma Nettesheim was very solid in net stopping 32 shots.
