Huskies outshoot Hilltoppers 45 to 25

Hayes Weiner's 42 saves not enough for Hilltoppers

The Huskies traveled to the Omni Center to play the Hilltoppers with both teams attempting to get back on the winning track. Eau Claire North was coming off a 3-3 tie with Madison Memorial, while Onalaska was getting over a loss to Fond du Lac Springs.

The first period featured both teams moving the puck and placing shots on goal, but both goaltenders were up to the task of keeping zeros on the scoreboard.  Tyler Schreiter made 8 saves for the Huskies, while Hayes Weiner had 16 saves for Onalaska.

Eau Claire North was able to tally the first goal at 1:26 of the second period.  A face-off in their offensive zone to the left of Weiner saw Joey Koller draw the puck back to Zach Urdahl. Urdahl took the shot and it slid under Weiner giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.  The score remained at 1-0 until there was 4:28 showing on thee clock.  Onalaska's Brennan Mason fed the puck up to Boris Kacer.  Kacer attacked to the right of Schreiter and two Huskie defenders pressed him. Kacer passed the puck over to CJ Lass and he lifted the biscuit over Schreiter to tie the game at one. The period ended with the game knotted at 1.

The game remained tied until the 11:47 mark of the third period, when the Huskies took advantage of a Hilltopper turnover in Onalaska's defensive zone. Zach Urdahl ended up the puck behind the net and passed the puck to Jack Echternach. Echternach put it in the net giving Eau Claire North a 2-1 lead.  Onalaska tied the game with 2:42 remaining in regulation. Carter Stobb skated into the Huskies' defensive zone down the left side of the rink, Schreiter's right) and once again two of Eau Claire North's defenders attached the puck. Stobb made the pass over to Tommy Duren and Duren buried the puck into the net. Regulation ended with the game tied at 2.

Sudden death came quickly in the overtime period, when Eau Claire North took a page out of Onalaska's playbook.  The OT period saw Joey Koller skating the puck to the right of Weiner and two Onalaska defenders went after him. Koller made the pass to Zach Urdahl and Urdahl put the puck in throught the back door at 1:38 into overtime.

Huskies stay undefeated to improve to 3-0-1, while Onalaska fell to 3-2-0.
