Genatempo seldom leaves the Mullett Center and seldom gets beat between the pipes

Arrowhead senior plays and works at the rink

Peter Genatempo’s work in the Mullett Center is never done, even after the final horn.

The senior goaltender on Arrowhead’s hockey team also happens to work part time in the on-campus rink at his home school.

“I mostly do on-ice things,” Genatempo said. “We have Learn to Play and Learn to Skate programs where we teach the younger kids. I kind of go out on the ice and help instruct and teach all the kids our other staff members, how to skate or learn to pass and shoot. I also work the concession stand, some cleaning stuff.”

He’s at his best when he’s keeping visitors from doing their job.

In his first year on varsity last season, Genatempo netted first-team All Conference, finishing with a .931 save percentage and helping the Warhawks to a 21-2-1 record and a share of the Classic 8 Conference championship.

"He came up really hungry," Arrowhead coach Carl Valimont said of Genatempo's rise from the JV team. "He wanted the job, did the extra in the offseason, and he has a great personality for goaltending. He's a quiet kid who doesn't get rattled. If something happens, he moves on."
