Central Wisconsin Storm off to a program-rare slow start to season

Defending state champs start year at 1-3

MOSINEE - This has not been a typical start for the Central Wisconsin Storm. 

Three losses in the first four games is unheard of for a program that has reached the WIAA state girls hockey state tournament every year for the past decade and won its third championship last March. 

Storm coach Pete Susens isn't too concerned with his team's record in November. The focus is on making sure the team is playing its best by the end of the regular season. 

"We would like to be better but sometimes it's the way it goes," said Susens after the Storm fell to Eau Claire/Altoona 3-0 in the championship game of the Gobbler Cup on Saturday at the Mosinee Recreation Center. "We are not inexperienced but we have a lot of people playing in different positions (from last year) right now.
