In their second game of the day, TW fell behind early and couldn't fight their way back into the contest Friday evening in Edina.

Minnesota built a 4-0 lead in the first five minutes of the opening period before Morgan Zirbel scored a PP goal late in the period. MN would score once more to take a 5-1 lead into the locker room after the first.

MN got a goal at the end of the second and led 6-1 heading into the final period and tacked on a late goal to account for the 7-1 final.

Shots were 60-21 in favor of the home team. Rebecca Binder stayed busy, making 53 saves for TW.

GIRLS

TW 5, New York 2

TW got to work right away. 3:29 into the 1st period, Khloe Spors (Melrose-Mindoro) scored on an assist from HS teammate Baileigh Johnson (Neilsville).

Just two minutes later TW struck again. This time it was Alyssa Heim (Beaver Dam) unassisted.

Sydney McKersie (Metro Lynx) was in net and stopped everything New York threw at her and the period ended 2-0.

In the second, it was TW opening the scoring again. This time Megan Walmer (Pewaukee) took an assist from Stella Ramsey (Madison) and buried it. McKersie made several key saves to keep New York off the scoreboard and the period ended 3-0.

The third period again saw TW come out fast with Heim on an unassisted goal less than three minutes in. New York was finally able to capitalize on two power play opportunities to bring the game a little closer at 4-2.

However, TW came right back on a power play of their own just a minute later. Again it was Walmer, this time taking a great feed from Drew Deanovich (Fond du Lac) to put them up 5-2. McKersie shut the door the rest of the way making a total of 27 saves.
