Black Cats, boys' TW 18 complete outstanding tourneys

girls tier ii (14u)

Southern Connecticut's Shoreline Sharks got a goal in the first and second periods and it was enough as the Black Cats of western Wisconsin could not solve Sharks goalie Carina Mancini, who stopped all 28 shots fired at her to give the Sharks a 2-0 win in the Tier II 14U championship game Monday morning in Troy, MI.

The Black Cats went 0-for-3 on power play chances, while the Sharks scored on their only opportunity.

The Sharks held a 1-0 lead late in the second and doubled that advantage as they scored while one skater up just five seconds into the penalty. That was enough as Mancini shut down the 'Cats, who had scored 17 goals in the prior five games.

The Black Cats finished the tourney with a very respectable 4-2 mark, allowing only seven goals in tournament play.

Sydney Seeley (13 saves) and Caitlyn Erickson (12) combined for 25 stops and played very well all weekend.

Congrats on your second place finish!!

Team Wisconsin 18U boys team stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the middle period against the Mid-Fairfield Chiefs in Monday morning's Nationals title game in Pittsburgh.

Each team scored in the third, sending the contest to an extra period, but it was the Chiefs that earned the 'sudden victory' in a 4-3 win.

Cole Caufield and Ian Malcolmson scored in the first two minutes of play in the middle period to knot the score at two apiece.

Brady Bjork scored six minutes into the third to give TW a short-lived lead, which lasted all of 136 seconds.

The Chiefs outshot TW 36-34 in the game, with TW goalie Sam Dunn stopping 30 pucks.

TW finished the tourney with a record of 4-1. Congrats, boys--well done!!
