Bowling Green’s record-setting goaltender Chris Nell signed an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers on Thursday, ending his collegiate career.
He is the second Bowling Green player to sign an entry-level contract and leave school early, joining defenseman Mark Friedman, who signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
Nell, a junior from Green Bay, Wisconsin, recorded a school-record 11 shutouts in 84 games in net for the Falcons. He owned a .922 save percentage, which is also the best in BG history. His goals-against average was 2.07.
