Verona boys hockey scored on 50 percent of its power-play opportunities Friday to earn a 4-4 tie at third-ranked Arrowhead.

The host Warhawks took a one-goal lead three different times inside the Mullett Ice Center, but each time the Wildcats answered.

Sophomore forward Brockton Baker scored twice, tying the game midway through the first period and again late in the second period for Verona.

Junior forward Jack Keryluk gave the Wildcats their first lead 9 1/2 minutes into the third period on the power play. The host Warhawks fought back to force overtime two minutes later with a Jaxson Carr even-strength goal as Arrowhead outshot Verona 24-10 over the third period and overtime.

Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the eight-minute overtime as junior Garhett Kaegi posted 46 saves for the Wildcats, and Aaron Nicholson stopped 29 of 33 shots on goal for the Warhawks.

Sophomore forward Mason McCormick scored a goal and set up two more for Verona. Arrowhead’s Connor Akers scored a goal and assisted on another. Elijah Tormala and Jack Schlinsog each scored a goal.
