Hudson win streak hits double digits

Sydney Hendricks has 1 goal and 2 assists

Hudson and Onalaska met Saturday evening in a clash of teams looking to gain momentum as the WIAA playoffs start to come into focus.  The Hilltoppers were trying to rebound from an overtime loss to Sun Prairie, while the Raiders were looking to build on a 9 game win streak.

The game started with Hudson pressuring in offensive zone, but Skylar Dannhoff was up to the task minding the net.  At 4:39 of the first period, the Hilltoppers went on the power play as Anna Wilgren was called for tripping.  Onalaska was able to capitalize on the opportunity, when Chloe Strain scored with an assist from Mackenzie Steinfadt and Morgan Gargaro at 5:42 of the period.  The Raiders attempted to kill off another penalty as Dani Robson was called for interference at 10:06 of the first and were successful.  The Hilltoppers were successful in killing off a penalty of their own, when Chloe Strain was called for tripping at 14:08 of the period.  The first period concluded with the Hilltoppers leading 1-0.

The Raiders tied the game at 4:39 of the second on an even strength goal by Sydney Hendricks with Katie Meierotto and Taylor Wandschneider being credited with assists.  Hudson's Quinn Winkoski was called for interference at 4:33 of the period, but Onalaska was unable to convert.  Katie Meierotto gave the Raiders the lead at 13:32 of the second with the Hendricks', Sydney and Kennedy, assisting on the goal.  Hudson was able to score a power play goal after Onalaska's Morgan Gargaro was called for hooking.  Anna Wilgren scored a power play goal with Dani Robson and Molly Schuett assisting on the play.  The second period ended with the Raiders leading 3-1.

Anna Wilgren picked up her second goal 55 seconds into the third period with Sydney Hendricks assisting.  Hudson had to kill off one more penalty, when Dani Robson was called for her second penalty with 9:26 remaining in the game.  Hudson won 4-1 and boosted their win streak to 10 games.  Skylar Dannhoff finished the game with 40 saves, while Cassie Schultz had 10 saves for Hudson.

Onalaska will play their next game on Monday against the ECA Stars at Hobbs Ice Arena.  Hudson will host Chippewa Falls on Thursday in their next game.
