The Mayo Sports Medicine Game of the Week featured a pair of Badger Conference teams who know each other well.

The Rock County Fury and Madison Metro Lynx played to an early season draw and with team seeding coming up both teams knew what was at stake.

The Metro Lynx used a tiebreaking power play goal from Sierra Berg, and an empty net goal late to outlast Rock County 3-1 Friday night at Madison Ice Arena.

The Lynx came out in the first period and was able to dictate play for much of the period but held scoreless until late in the period. With under a minute to go the puck was shot from the right circle by Lynx forward Zoe Lohrei. Fury goalie Sarah Varga saw the puck bouncing toward her. As she tried to scoop it the puck didn't skip and snuck thru the 5 hole giving the Lynx a 1-0 lead.

In the second period the Fury finally were able to get some extended offensive zone time and finally got the puck past Lynx goalie Sydney McKersie.  Fury forward Maggy Henschler got off a wrist shot from the mid slot that bounced past McKersie and got the game all even at 1.

Late in the second the Fury found themselves down two skaters due to penalties. They were able to kill one off but it was the shot taken by Sierra Berg that eluded Sarah Varga giving the Lynx a power play goal and a 2-1 lead  thru 2 periods.

Rock County's offense started getting some chances in the third period by taking chances in the offensive zone. But time after time McKersie was able to keep her team with the lead, and finally the Lynx added an empty netter for the 3-1winning margin. Final saves in the game were 28 for Rock County while the Lynx were able to hold the Fury to 18.
