Junior goaltender Trevor Hudecek asked the question prior to the season that many close to the Eau Claire Memorial boys hockey program have been wondering. 

“What do we have now?”

With the losses of Dylan Ross, a Mr. Hockey finalist, and Ty Emberson, a Youth Olympian now in USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, it’s a fair thought.

Hudecek provided a big part of that answer Friday night.

The three-year starter played one of the best games of his Old Abes career, the offense took advantage of odd-man rushes and Memorial, ranked second in Wisconsin Prep Hockey’s preseason state coaches poll, made all the plays it had to in a 5-1 season-opening win over No. 5 Notre Dame in the first game of the Red Flint Rock and Stone Meltdown at Hobbs Ice Center.
