Top Ten: No movement in the top five for the first time this season.

The Warriors of Wausau West held the top spot in the Wisconsin Prep Hockey Top Ten this week, just as they have all season.  West beat Wisconsin Valley Conference opponents Wausau East and DC Everest, both by 4-1 scores.

Eau Claire Memorial continues to make a push to unseat the leader, and notched three wins this week: 6-1 over Menomonie, 6-3 over River Falls and 7-0 over Rice Lake.

Something has to give on Thursday as #1 and #2 faceoff at Marathon Park in Wausau.

Notre Dame Academy retained the third spot with wins over De Pere and Manitowoc. Marquette held on to fourth with a 4-3 victory over Appleton United.

Ashwaubenon continues to roll and retained the fifth spot with a trio of victories last week.  The Jaguars beat Green Bay United 5-4.  They also took down Antigo 5-2 and SPASH 8-3.

Back-to-back losses to Stoughton and Waunakee knocked Madison Edgewood out of the Top Ten, allowing Stoughton and Superior to slide up to #6 and #7.

Waupaca leapfrogged Oregon and took the #8 stop with wins over Medford and Lakeland.

Oregon held on to the #9 spot with wins of McFarland and DeForest, and a tie to Middleton.

Green Bay United cracked the Top Ten for the first time on the season.  The 5-2 Green Bay team a 5-4 loss to #5 Ashwaubenon and an overtime loss to #3 Notre Dame Academy, but has otherwise rolled this season.

Who Is The Real #1?

Based on the Top Ten voting and the US High School Hockey Online Power Rankings, the Wausau West Warriors and Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes are the class of Wisconsin.

The two faceoff on Thursday at Marathon Park in our Game of the Week.

West and Memorial met last season on Dec. 30 and skated to a 3-3 tie before West knocked off Memorial 4-3 the semi-finals of the state tournament.

The Wausau West team should be fired up as Coach Pete Susans is closing in on his 500th victory.
