November 5 NHL alumni game would be a first for Wisconsin

Buchanan, who spent three years in the Red Wings organization in the 1980s, helped coordinate similar events in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, but moved to Pewaukee a couple years ago. His daughter attends Hamilton High School, and he's partnering with Arrowhead Youth Hockey and the HHS Booster Club to help make the event a reality in the rink on Arrowhead's campus.

"I felt they were good tie-ins because you need a lot of help," Buchanan said. "They have a lot of people in the orginzation and a lot of volunteers, and both organizations have been great."

Buchanan said parents within Arrowhead hockey first approached him with the idea after learning what he'd done to help coordinate the games in Colorado, where his venue could host roughly 700 people. Accommodating close to 1,200, the Mullett will offer greater capacity, and if the event fares well, Buchanan hopes to further embrace other NHL alumni bases, potentially adding Minnesota in the next iteration.

Alumni games are not uncommon around the country, but this would be a first in Wisconsin.
