TW U14 girls knock off #1 seed East Coast Wizards

Other three teams take tough losses on Day 2

TIER I U14 TEAM WISCONSIN GIRLS
The Team Wisconsin U14 girls pulled off a big upset on Friday, taking out #1 seed East Coast Wizards 3-1. T-Dub took a 2-0 lead into the third period on goals by Jenna Ruiz and Lauren Carmody before getting an empty-netter by Alyssa Heim to make it 3-0 with just over a minute left.

The Wizards scored with eight seconds left to spoil the shutout. Goalie Ava Bailey stopped 18 of 19 in the win.

TIER I U16 MADISON CAPITOLS GIRLS
The Caps dropped a 2-1 decision to the Boston JR Eagles Friday. Maddie Posick scored with 45 seconds left in the first, tying the game for the Caps, but the 4th-ranked JR Eagles scored a power play goal with four minutes left in regulation.

Sara Glawe stopped 22 shots for the Capitols.

The Caps are making their third straight appearance in the national tournament.

TIER I U16 TEAM WISCONSIN BOYS
The U16 squad dropped a tough 5-4 overtime loss to Victory Honda on Day 2. 

TW held a 2-1 first period lead on goals by Jordan Steinmetz and Trey LaBarge. Brock Caufield scored in the middle period to give TW a 3-2 midway through the period after Victory Honda tied the game.

Victory Honda scored the next two goals to take a 4-3 lead in the third period before Chase Blackmun tied the game with 3:22 left to send the contest to an extra period.

Honda scored 2:35 into OT for the win.

Goalie Sam Dunn made 26 saves for TW.

TIER II U16 WEHL ORANGE
The Milwaukee area squad was defeated 6-4 by Ashburn Xtreme.

The WEHL team held a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals by Jared Brandt and Mile Torbica before Ashburn reeled off five straight goals to go ahead 6-2 early in the third period.

Brandon McGill and Elijah Tormala scored late in the period to account for the 6-4 final. 

Caleb Sauer stopped 34 shots for Team Orange.
