After a hard-fought 2-1 overtime victory over the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes on Wednesday, Team Wisconsin was unable to come up with another victory and placed fifth in its pool, missing the quarterfinal round on Saturday and ending its chances for a National title.

Wednesday
After Carolina scored in the first for a 1-0 lead, Brandon Walls scored midway through the second period to tie the game. Neither team could find the back of the net during the last 23 minutes of play, so the game went to a five minute OT. With just 22 seconds left in the extra period, Alexander Dahl scored the game winner on assists from Garret Clemment and Evan Janssen. Austin Priebe stopped 26 of 27 shots in the win.

Thursday
The Avalanche scored just 47 seconds into the contest to set the tone for the game. Midway through the first, Ashton Wackym scored on assist from Janssen to tie the game, but that was the last time TW would put the puck in the net. North Jersey scored four times in the second--including a short-hander and a power play goal 91 seconds apart--to put the game out of reach. An early third period goal for NJ made the final 6-1. Priebe saved 26 of 32 in the loss.

Friday
Needing a victory over the Chicago Mission to secure a quarterfinal spot, TW lost a heartbreaking shootout for a 3-2 final and an end to its title bid. Despite the game being a penalty-riddled affair, only one power play goal was scored. The Mission scored with just under seven minutes left in the period on the man-advantage for a 1-0 lead. The first period saw 30 minutes of penalties (TW-22, CM-8). Clemment scored at 2:31 of the second, with helpers from Janssen and Cliff Watson, to tie the game at one. The Mission scored with 3:39 left to give the hosts a 2-1 lead going into the third. Penalties in the second period were eight minutes for TW, six minutes for CM. At the midway point of the third, Eddie Matsushima scored on an assist from Ryan Dau to tie the game at 2-2. TW was whistled for four minutes of penalty time in the third, compared to ten minutes for the Mission. Neither team would score in the five minute OT, so the event went to a shootout. Thomas Di Pauli got the game-winner for the Mission.

Notes
Priebe ended with 38 saves, giving him a 3.15 GAA and a .900 save percentage for the tourney. Janssen led the squad with three points, all on helpers. In the Easton Skills competition, Todd Koritzinsky won the "Fastest Skater" contest.
