WAUSAU - The Central Wisconsin Storm are heading into the WIAA postseason playing their best hockey of the season.
In fact, no girls hockey team in the state has closed out the regular season in more impressive fashion.
The Storm (18-4-1) beat the Metro Lynx 5-2 Friday at Greenheck Field House to extend their unbeaten streak to a season-best 11-games, which is also the longest in the state currently. The Storm have gone 10-0-1 over that stretch with five shutout wins which has helped propel them to the No.1 ranking in the state.
