Northland Pines is finally getting back into a scoring groove just days before hosting Antigo, picking up an 8-2 win over the Medford Raiders.

The Eagles were really pressuring Spenser Scholl in net, taking twenty shots in the first period. Colton Raymond started the scoring for the visiting Eagles, launching the puck into the top corner unassisted.

Connor Cox added another goal sixteen seconds later, assisted by Ryon Ritzer. Sophomore defenseman Sammy Spencer tacked on an additional goal from the blue line to close out the first period.

Medford tested Ethan Polich in Pines' net, forcing Polich to rely on his pads for many saves as well as a big glove save to open the second period. Nick Dean sent the puck ricocheting off of the top pipe with a pass from Colton Raymond, giving Pines a 4-0 lead early in the middle frame.

Jack Brown was denied of a goal by Scholl and on the very next play, Jack Rhode set up Tyler Hunt on a play that saw Hunt spinning around right in front of the net before back-handing the puck to the net for Pines’ fifth goal of the game. Jack Schafer put the Raiders on the scoreboard, scoring a power play goal with Andrew Neis in the box for interference.

With just 0:05 remaining in the period, Tucker Wittkopf scored a goal dead on with Scholl, extending the Eagles’ lead 6-1 going into the third and final period. Sammy Spencer and Tyler Hunt picked up assists on the play.

Connor Cox scored his second of the night and sent the game into running time before Jack Rhode was called for tripping and the referees awarded Krayton Kree a penalty shot. Kree scored on the penalty shot, bringing the score to 7-2 and ending the running time.

Jacob Czarapata tacked on a goal as the time was winding down in the game, awarding Northland Pines a 8-2 victory against their Great Northern Conference opponent Medford.
