FAIRBANKS—Austin Vieth grew up in Marinette, Wisconsin, imagining himself playing for the University of Wisconsin Badgers.
On Friday and Saturday, Vieth got to play against his childhood team in a nonconference college hockey series with the Alaska Nanooks.
“You grew up and you’re like, ‘Wow. That would be incredible to play there,’” Vieth said after practice on Tuesday at the Carlson Center.
“I have a couple buddies on the team that were able to do that,” Vieth continued. “I went to high school with them, now they’re playing for Wisconsin. It’s kind of a dream that they were set for. Moving on to different things, I’m happy where I’m at.”
