Tremendous exposure opportunity for players looking to move on

The Wisconsin Elite Hockey League (WEHL) is pleased to announce this fall's Central Challenge Midget Tournament, to be held October 29-31, 2010 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This year's invitation-only tournament for the top 18U and 16U teams in the central states will be held under one roof at the beautiful three sheet Cornerstone Community Center, home of the D3 St. Norbert College Green Knights (2008 NCAA National Champs).

In addition to great competition, there will be tremendous exposure opportunity for players looking to move on to the next levels of hockey after high school. Coaches and scouts from all Central States Hockey League (Jr. A Tier 3) and Minnesota Junior Hockey League (Jr. A Tier 3) teams have been invited to attend, along with central states' area USHL and NAHL personnel. We also anticipate attendance by representatives of some of the area's NCAA D3 programs, including teams from the MCHA, NCHA, and MIAC.

There will be 12 teams at each level, with all teams playing at least four games (two 25 minute stop-time halves). Those advancing to the semi-finals and finals will play five and six games, respectively.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Trophies to first and second place finishers
  •  No admission or gate fees for tournament games
  • Tournament-sanctioned hotels with discounted rates
  • USA Hockey-sanctioned tournament
  • $1000 team entry fee

In addition, representatives from the University of Wisconsin hockey team and the NAHL Janesville Jets will give presentations about hockey opportunities after high school and the paths to attain them.

St. Norbert will host UW-Stout Friday (7:00pm) and Saturday (4:00pm) for those seeking to watch top-notch D3 action.
