Earn win, tie after 0-5 start

After starting the season 0-5 against teams west of the St. Croix River, the Raider girls hockey team didn’t do too shabby in its first two games against Wisconsin opponents over the weekend.

All the Raiders did was play top-ranked Bay Area to a 2-2 tie Friday night in Green Bay and shut out ninth-ranked Fox Cities 5-0 Saturday in Neenah.

“It looks like our ‘meat grinder’ schedule in Minnesota has paid off,” head coach Greg Gamache said. “Those are the first two Wisconsin teams that we have played this year and it looks like we can hold our own.”
