Eau Claire Memorial sophomore Ty Emberson is just less than two months away from embarking on his first ever trip outside the United States, courtesy of the talent and hobby that has carried him through the better part of his young life.

While it’s sure to be an exciting experience in Lillehammer, Norway, Emberson is most looking forward to one new cultural experience: local cuisine.

“I’m a big food guy, so I like to switch up my food choice,” he said.

But what’s at stake for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman is a whole lot more than a plate of lutefisk.
