Fury Senior Alyx Richards' 4 Point Night Leads The Way

Richards' 4 Point Night Leads The Way.

The Rock County Fury ushered in the Dave Soddy era with a 8-1 win over the Icebergs in a Badger Conference game in Beloit Tuesday night.

Fury senior Alyx Richards had 2 goals and 2 assists in the game to lead the charge for the Fury. "We've been playing as a group since I was about 10 so I'm pretty excited about this season, " said Richards after the game. "I feel we can go far as a team this year."

The Fury in the game had six different players score goals in the game with first period goals by Maggy Henschler, Richards, Danielle Heitsman and Anne Runde all scoring as the Fury used speed and experience to get a 4-0 lead after one period.

The second period saw two more goals scored.  Riley Burke and Kayla Kaufman scored to make it 6-0.

The Icebergs did play better in the second period and got on the board on a goal by Samantha Eyers. She took a shot and Fury goalie Molly Gross made the stop but the puck ended up squeezing by her and rolling into the net.

Any momentum the Icebergs might've had was extinguished as Richards pounded home a pair of goals for the 8-1 score after two periods.

Both teams were up and down the ice in the third period but could get nothing but iron as a few shots rang off posts for both teams. In the game Icebergs goalie Mckenzie Nisius made 20 saves while both Molly Gross and McKaylie Buescher combined for 14 saves total.

As this game went on you could see the Icebergs getting better as a team, but were just not up to the level of the Fury. With a roster of 13 and only 2 seniors the Icebergs will have a team that will see the ice a lot as a unit but will have to stay fairly healthy to compete.
