Middleton goalie stops 36 shots in victory

Middleton's Max McConnell stopped 36 of 37 shots to lead Team Wisconsin Seniors past Minnesota Seniors 2-1 Friday evening in the CCM NIT tournament.

Martin Suda (Bay Port) gave TW a 1-0 lead with his goal at the 15:17 mark of the first, with an assist to Conner Blanck (FDL Springs).

The period ended with the score tied and the shots as well, six apiece.

Minnesota came out firing in the second, putting 20 pucks on net but only scoring a single time. Chase Jungels scored five minutes in to tie the game at one, but that would be all the scoring in the period.

Shots were 20-11, Minnesota.

TW put only two pucks on net in the final 18 minutes, but AJ Romanoski (Hudson) found the back of the net with just over five minutes left for the game-winner, with another assist to Blanck. Shots were 11-2 in the period.

McConnell stole the game for TW, while MN goalies Jonathan Flakne (10) and Joshua Kuehmichel (7) combined for 17 saves.
