Megan Nolan scored three goals as the Point-Rapids Red Panthers clawed to five first period scores en route to an 8-2 victory over visiting Medford Friday night at the K.B. Willett Arena in Stevens Point.

Kaylee Bruneau got the home team on the board just over three minutes into the game when she collected a back-door pass from Hannah Beilke and pounded it home for a 1-0 lead.

Medford goalie Emily Lybert stood tall for the next eight minutes, turning aside ten shots before the Red Panthers earned their second goal.

Nolan scored on a shot from the slot on an assist from Carolyn Storch at 11:06 and then added another goal four minutes later to give Point-Rapids a 3-0 lead.

Twenty-two seconds later, Zoe Derks tallied from the left circle for a 4-0 lead.

With just 35 seconds left in the period, Emily Bubla, who was skating out for the first time in her varsity career, added another first as she grabbed a pass in the slot and snapped a high shot past the Medford goalie for her first varsity goal. Katrina Hassig earned an assist on the play.

The hosts outshot Medford by a 19-1 margin in the first.

The second period saw an early and late goal by Medford and a pair of mid-period goals for Point-Rapids.

Marissa McPeak cut the lead to 5-1 when she grabbed a NZ pass and sped goalward on a breakaway. Her snapshot beat goalie Merina Chappel just 23 seconds into the period, with an assist to Taylor Adleman.

The home squad increased the lead to 6-1 two minutes later while on the power play.

After cycling the puck out to the point, Emily Exner sent a hard on-ice shot that beat the netminder through the five-hole. Assists were given to Bruneau and Derks on the PP goal.

Nolan completed her hattie just over four minutes later as she grabbed a lead pass and fired a shot from the left circle that beat the goalie high on the mitt side to make it 7-1. Hailey Ehr and Hassig earned helpers on the play.

The Raiders finished off their early/late scoring when Joelle Zenner grabbed her own rebound and snuck it past the goalie's right shoulder with just ten ticks left in the period to cut the lead to 7-2.

Once again, the hosts held the shot edge, 18-6 in the period.

Ehr accounted for the final margin with her power play goal with 12 seconds left in the third period. Storch and Bruneau had assists on the play.

The Red Panthers outshot Medford 13-3 in the period.

Chappel stopped eight shots for Point-Rapids, who improved to 4-9-2, while Lybert was much busier on the other end, making 42 saves for the Raiders, who fell to 0-12.
