Sun Prairie Comes Up Literally Short Against Beloit

Beloit and Sun Prairie opened up Big Eight play Tuesday night in Beloit looking like an early season game.

Missed passes, shots and opportunities all abound for both teams but Johnathan Wests goal in the first period gave Beloit a 1-0 win.

Wests shot from near the left hash marks got by Cardinal goalie Jake Thornton was the beginning of a crazy game. The Cards had plenty of power play chances but Beloit goalie Brennan Bescup when needed was solid.

Sun Prairie in the final seconds had a huge pileup near Bescup's crease and the puck was loose as the buzzer sounded before the puck crossed the line.

Beloit Coach Kurt Buchs knows theres work to do with the young squad he puts out there. "The game was sloppy but when you get the win with a young team you take the W and move on". Sun Prairie now has a 1-1 record on the season and plays next Tuesday against Madison West, while Beloit plays a home Thanksgiving tournament starting Friday. Beloit is now 2-0 on the season. Both goalies played well with Cards goalie Jake Thornton stopped 26 shots whiles Bescup for Beloit stopped all 38 shots.
