Stats can be entered live during games or afterwards

Coaches and team administrators will notice a difference when they score their games this year.

The tabular scoring ('Edit Stats') has been disabled beginning this season. The Sport NGIN Live scoring system will be the sole method used for entering stats this season and forward.

The NGIN Live system offers the benefit or being able to print a scoresheet and scoring summary for each game. (See sidebar for example).

Best Practices (Live Scoring)

  • Only one team can score a game with Sport Ngin Live. Work with opposing team to accurately record plays for both teams.
  • Home teams are given priority to score a game with Sport Ngin Live. If the home team isn't live-scoring the game, the visiting team may use Sport Ngin Live.
  • For the most accurate live-scoring, it is best to have one person using Sport Ngin Live.
  • Start with the Basic Scoring method using only the required fields on each play until you're more familiar with the application.
  • Watch your connection status within Sport Ngin Live – in the upper right corner of each play action – to make sure your plays are being recorded properly.  Status will update from 'UnSaved' to 'Saved' once the data has been successfully submitted and sent.  If you notice your play actions remain on 'Unsaved', you will need to check your internet connection.

The best practices listed above refer to scoring the game at the rink in 'real time.' You can also enter the game stats after the game, using the official score sheet and entering all events for both teams.

The home team should enter the stats, but if 24 hours pass and the game has not been posted, the visiting team may enter the stats.

Also, if one of the coaches is proficient at using the system, the home coach can defer to that coach for entering stats.

I have entered over 100 games using Sport NGIN Live scoring. Once you have done a few, it is very easy to use. Depending on the number of 'events' (goals, penalties, etc.) in a game, data entry can take from 10-20 minutes.

Give NGIN Live scoring a try; you will find it is not difficult and creates a concise and detailed scoring summary for your game.
