GREEN BAY, WIS. – USA Today released its inaugural All-USA high school boys and girls hockey teams this week, including a contingent of First Team honorees that featured three girls and one boy currently competing at the 2014 USA Hockey-Toyota National Championships.

Headlining the list was forward Baylee Wellhausen of Shattuck-St. Mary’s (Faribault, Minn.), the USA Today girls player of the year. A Wisconsin native and niece of two-time United States Olympian Cammi Granato, Wellhausen finished Saturday’s fourth game of Tier I Girls competition with five goals and four assists thus far.

Joining Wellhausen on the All-USA First Team were fellow national championship competitors Lexie Laing, a forward with Assabet Valley, and Maddie Rolfes, defense, from Shattuck-St. Mary’s.

On the boys side, Team Wisconsin defenseman Matt Berkovitz was selected to the All-USA First Team. Currently competing at the Tier I youth nationals in his own Ashwaubenon backyard, Berkovitz helped his squad to a wild win over Culver Academy in today’s U18 quarterfinals.
