Tough day overall as only one Wisconsin team is victorious

U18 TW 4, CP Dynamo 1

Ryan Mezera had a goal and an assist, while Jarod Zirbel, Mason Appleton, and Charlie Parker each scored once as the U18 TW squad skated past CP Dynamo 4-1 Thursday on the second day of pool play at the USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay.

Zed Dietrich added two helpers for TW. Ryan Wischow stopped 15 shots in earning the win, with TW outshooting the Dynamo 36-16.

Valley Jr. Warriors 2, U16 TW 1 (shootout)

Ty Pelton-Byce scored the lone goal as TW lost in a shootout. Walker Smith stopped 15 shots in the game.

Buffalo Bisons 8, TW U19 Girls 1

Theresa Knutson scored early in the second period to tie the game at one, but things went sideways after that as the Bisons tallied four times in a seven minute span in the middle period to put the game out of reach.

The Bisons outshot TW 49-14, as Kenzie Torpy stopped 41 shots for TW in the contest.

Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 6, WEHL North Central 4

The Grizzlies had a four-goal lead midway through the second period, but three goals by North Central got them right back in the contest. Oakland responded with two goals in the third and held off NC for the 6-4 win.

Christian Bardarson and Nick Techel each had a goal and a helper, while Colton Raymond and Zach Leggon each put a puck in the net for the WEHL squad.

Jacob Arno stopped 34 shots for NC, as Oakland outshot the Wisconsin squad 40-28.

Shattuck St. Marys 5, U14 TW 1

TW trailed by a score of 2-1 as the third period began and held that score for more than nine minutes, but SSM put three pucks in the net in the last half of the period to defeat TW 5-1.

Peter Verstegen scored for TW.

Ryan Kenny made 30 saves for TW, as they were outshot by a margin of 35-13.
