Cornerstone Community Center was the scene for the clash between the second ranked Central Wisconsin Storm and the top ranked Bay Area Ice Bears.  The last time these teams played the Storm won 4-1.  It was the fourth game of the season for Central Wisconsin and the first game for Bay Area.  Since that time, the Ice Bears had put together a 16 game win streak and were looking for their 17th straight win on Saturday.

The game started with the Storm getting the puck into the offensive zone and attacking the net.  However, Bay Area goalie Lindsey Strainis was up to the task and turned back the attempts.  The Ice Bears were able to tally the first score at 10:48 of the first period, when Johanna Cano centered a pass from behind the goal line, slightly to the left of Lisa Fowle, into the low slot, where Kelsey Rafferty one-timed it into the goal.  Strainis finished the period with 9 saves for Bay Area, while Fowle had 3 saves for the Storm.

The second period seemed to be a reflection of the first period, but this time it was the Storm scoring to tie the game.  Elizabeth Bauer scored the goal with Taylor Treu and Savannah Felch assisting on the play.  The game was tied at 1 at the end of two.  Fowle had 6 saves for a two period total of 9.  Strainis had 15 saves for a two period total of 24.

The third period started and with the way the first two perods were played the thought had to be the next goal could win the game.  Central Wisconsin took a 2-1 lead, when Katelynn Schilling scored with Ashley Zacho and Felch being credited with assists with 8:42 remaining.  Bay Area wasn't going to let their winning streak end without putting up a fight and were able to tie the game fifty-two seconds later on a goal by Wittig with Rafferty and Cano assisting.  The third period came to an end tied at 2 and the game headed to overtime.

Bay Area ended the game at the 2:29 mark of overtime as Rafferty picked up her second assist on Wittig's second goal.  The Ice Bears extended their win streak to 17. Strainis finished the game with 43 saves including 5 saves in overtime.  Fowle finished the game with 21 saves.
