WiPH Girls awards winners named

Torpy, Johnson, and Knutson receive top honors


The fourth annual Wisconsin Prep Hockey (WiPH) Awards were handed out Saturday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Center Exhibition Hall.

Winning her second consecutive Jinelle Siergiej Award for Top Offensive Player was Onalaska's Theresa Knutson. The junior forward tallied 98 points (77g-21a) in 28 games this season in leading the Hilltoppers to their second straight state championhsip game.

Marshfield defenseman Paige Johnson earned her second straight Molly Engstrom Award for Top Defensive Player. The senior scored 58 points (37g-21a) in 24 games for the Tigers. Johnson also earned the Wisconsin Ms. Hockey Award at the WGHCA Banquet on Thursday evening.

The Jessie Vetter Award for Top Goalie was won by Kenzie Torpy of the Stoughton co-op Icebergs. The sophomore posted a .931 save%, allowing just 2.14 goals per game, while notching two shutouts.
