We are now a couple weeks into the 2012-13 hockey season and life at Wisconsin Prep Hockey is starting to get hectic once again.

The staff is getting out to games in their areas and putting up game reports and summaries, and a handful of games are also being submitted by coaches, parents, or fans.

That's fine, but we are greedy. We want more!

GAME SUMMARIES/PICTURES

Here's what you do: write up a summary of 200-300 words for your team's game, including scoring highlights and goalie stats for BOTH teams.

Would you like to see your game highlighted in the picture slideshow at the top of WiPH? Simply email a pic here. The optimal size for the picture should be 1600px wide by 1000 px tall, or about a 5:3 ratio. Those look best; square or tall pics don't fit well, so send one that is sized about that 5:3 ratio.

If your team has a photographer, he or she can add the game pics to the story or the team page. Just ask us how...

STATS

What next? We need stats! Every game should have accurate stats for BOTH teams.

There are two methods for entering stats, but we prefer the NGIN Live method. It can be done at the game in 'real time' by a manager or coach designate. Some teams have a laptop at the scorers table and score live that way.

NGIN Live can also be used after the game. All you need is the score sheet and 15-30 minutes of your time.

Once you have used the program a couple times, it is pretty simple. It just takes a little getting used to, but it creates a detailed score sheet, including times of goals and penalties; goals, assists, and all goalie stats.

If you learn how to use this method, you will never go back to the other method, which is called 'edit stats.'

That is more like a spreadsheet with columns for stats and you just plug in numbers. It shows far less detail and takes just as long to enter numbers as it does for NGIN Live.

The HOME TEAM should enter stats for the game, and if it is a tournament game, just decide which coach/team will do it. Just make sure to work off the score sheet and enter the numbers for both teams.

If for some reason the home team can't or doesn't want to enter them, the visiting team can do so. Just wait a day or so to make sure they haven't been entered.

IN CLOSING

They are just five of us that comprise WiPH (four that live in the state), so we can't make it to every game. Two live in the southern part of the state, one in the central part, and one in northern Wisconsin (Swamps of Ackley).

That's why the coverage in NW Wisconsin, SE Wisconsin, and the LaCrosse area suffers in comparison. We just can't make it there...

That's where you come in.

Help us make the hockey coverage the best it can be. Send pictures and game summaries; do the stats.
