Beloit Memorial Athletic Director Chuck Seils found a familiar face to guide the varsity boys hockey program for the 2012-13 season. Dave Witting, who has already served two stints as BMHS head coach, is poised to make it three.
Witting, 66, replaces Erick “Otis” Johnson, who served one season as head coach, compiling a 9-16-1 mark overall and finishing sixth in the Big Eight Conference at 5-9-0.
“I like Otis, but I wasn’t happy with the where the program was headed,” Seils said. “Call it a difference in philosophy. I felt it was necessary to make a change.”
