Austin Vieth among top scorers at Minnesota event

Over two dozen former Wisconsin high school players skated in Blaine, Minnesota in last week's NAHL Showcase tournament held at the Schwan Super Rink.

The Texas Tornado squad was crowned champion based on their 4-0 record and a +12 goal differential, edging out Wenatchee and Kalamazoo (each with 4-0, +10) for the top spot in the four day event.

Former high school stars that fared well were Austin Vieth (Notre Dame Academy-Janesville Jets, 3g-4a), Ross Pavek (Notre Dame Academy-Jamestown, 2g-3a), and Brett Skibba (Middleton-Springfield, 3g-2a). Nick Deery (LaCrosse-Brookings) was among the goalie leaders with a 2.50 GAA and .926 save percentage.

Among state NAHL teams, Janesville went 2-2 and Coulee Region recorded a 1-2-1 mark.
